Top Ten Tuesday Two Days Too Late
Top Ten Fictional Couples:
1. Babette and Jack in Don DeLillo's White Noise: Okay, so I'm not much of a sucker for romance in novels. Babette is one of my favorite characters in all of literature, and I love the way that DeLillo portrays their interactions.
2. Trina and McTeague in Frank Norris' McTeague: Really, this is perhaps the most horrible couple in all of literature, but no one said they have to be my favorite because they are a "good" couple, right? This couple is the worst.
3. Edward and Bella in Twilight: Yep, I've read them and I'm Team Edward.
4. Emma and Dexter in David Nichols One Day: This is the When Harry Met Sally of novels. I love the realism of this relationship, but it is still romantic and I was hooked from the first page.
5. Hester Prynne and Arthur Dimmesdale in The Scarlet Letter: Okay, maybe it's a bit of a stretch, but I love a scandal, and everyone loves it when the hero and heroine hook up, right?
6. Queequeg and Ismael in Moby Dick: I'm only kidding...maybe.
7. Jake Barnes and Lady Brett Ashley from The Sun Also Rises: "Isn't it pretty to think so?"
8. Pip and Estella in Great Expectations: I was really rooting for them.
9.Michael Blomkvist and Lisbeth Salandar in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
10. All the lovers in A Midsummer Night's Dream: It is a lovefest.
What I learned from this meme is that I don't read a lot of romantic books. It was quite the challenge.

I just picked up One Day at the library. I've heard good things about it and am eager to read it!
ReplyDeleteBTW I'm Team Edward too! :)
I hope you enjoy it. I talk about it a little in one of my earlier blogs.
