My First Weight Loss Post

It is usually a picture that does it.  This time, it was this one.

I've gained and lost a lot of weight in my life.  I started gaining significant amounts when I was around eight or nine.  I have been on many diets- Nutrisystem, South Beach, Weight Watchers, Slim Fast, veganism (although that wasn't just for weight loss.  I had also recently seen Food Inc and read Fast Food Nation, both of which I recommend).  I've been working out my whole life.  I know how to lose weight...

And I know how to gain weight.  I'm on a journey to lose it again, this time by counting calories, journaling, and exercising one hour a day, at least five days a week.  I'm hoping this time it sticks.

Wish me luck!

Starting Weight: 167 lbs*
Goal Weight: Approx. 130 lbs.

*This is my third highest starting weight.  My highest was 198 lbs on my 5'0" frame.
**I've been at it with my new program and I've lost about 4 lbs, which is typical for the first week on a diet.  I'm sure I'll be blogging away when I hit 150- my plateau weight.

  5. Good luck!!

I'm sure you already know about this and also have your system figured out and are like "no more advice, kthx" but if you're doing the calorie counting thing I found the app LoseIt to be super helpful. It makes it easier to count calories in things like fruit and veggies that don't necessarily have a nutrition guide on the side.

    1. I downloaded LoseIt and it is a good one. I did Weight Watchers online for a long time, and was always kind of lazy about it. There is something about looking up the calories in a book and then writing them down on paper that really keeps me in check. I guess I'm old skool that way:)
