In Preparation for 24-Hours of Reading

I am getting geared up for Dewey's 24-Hour Readathon, which is tomorrow! For the last few readathons, I have had something planned that day, and this day is no different.  I'm going to a baby shower for some friends (last time it was a wedding shower...hmmm) in the middle of the day.  However, I'm going to try to get up a little early, and to read in the evening, and at least devote more time than usual over the course of the day.  My start time is 5 a.m., which is a little early, but I think I will set the alarm for six and see how it goes.

I have a bunch of books in progress, so there will definitely be some cleaning up during this readathon.  But, I still couldn't help but make a pile....

I tried to be restrained.  The books are:
1. Steinbeck, The Pastures of Heaven
2. Wiesel, Night
3. Oates, Black Water
4. Palacio, Wonder
5. Barnes, The Sense of an Ending
6. Satrapi, Embroderies
7. Sloan, Mr. Penumbra's 24 Hour Bookstore

My Ipad is also stocked with things I would like to read, so basically, I'm in way over my head.  Are you participating in the readathon?  What is your favorite part of the day? Do you read for the full 24?

  1. Some great choices! God, a whole day of reading (preferably in my sweats on the couch) sounds amazing. One day...

  2. Weddings and baby showers? Sheesh, tell your friends to stop celebrating things when you want to read! :)

Your pile of books looks great! I may be reading some Steinbeck myself later on (The Grapes of Wrath).

    Have fun!
